Cañon Creek : a Western duo / by Lewis B. Patten.
The Feud had its beginnings when Guy Dymond caught Galt Majors in bed with his wife. Guy shot Galt but didn't kill him. Since then, Galt Majors has become wealthy, while Guy has lived in borderline poverty. Then Galt's son Preston impregnates Guy Dymond's daughter Lena. Guy and his four sons, in a daring raid on the Majors Ranch, force Preston Majors to come with them, into the town of Cottonwood Springs, where under their guns a marriage is performed between Preston and Lena. As far as Guy is concerned, this gives the Dymond clan a vested interest in the Majors holdings, a claim that is rejected by Galt Majors. It is a matter that ultimately can only be settled one way, with violence.
In Canon Creek, rancher Frank Shasta finds a dead cow on Glen Hocking's range, and after an examination the veterinarian, Doc Lowe, concludes that the animal died of anthrax. This means that Glen Hocking will have to inoculate all of his cattle against the dreaded disease and destroy those that are already infected. Glen Hocking refuses to comply, insisting it is all a scheme on Doc Lowe's part to make money from the inoculation process. It will take force, generated by the other ranchers, to make Hocking do the right thing. But Hocking has a well-armed crew willing to fight to protect his herd against all comers.
